Transport can mean more than one thing:

• Transport, in the sense of engineering and infrastructure; see also List of transport topics.
• In biology the word transport refers to the movement of molecules or ions across cell membranes or via the bloodstream such as active transport and passive transport. Usually this transport is mediated by proteins.
• The term penal transportation refers to sending persons abroad as punishment.
• In computer science and electrical engineering, the term transport is also used to describe certain computer network protocols (see transport layer).
