Strobe Talbott (b. Nelson Strobridge Talbott III, 1946) is a U.S. diplomat and political scientist. He was the Deputy Secretary of State from 1993 until 2000. He has also been a friend of Bill Clinton since their days at the University of Oxford when he translated Nikita Khrushchev's memoirs. He is currently the president of the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C.
