OSDL

Open Source Development Labs (OSDL) was founded in 2000 and has investment backing from Computer Associates, Fujitsu, Hitachi, HP, IBM, Intel, NEC and others. It is additionally supported by a large collection of ISVs, end user companies, and educational institutions.

OSDL sponsors key industry projects, including industry initiatives to enhance Linux for use in corporate data centers, in telecommunications networks, and on the desktop. It also provides hardware resources to the open source community, performs and reports on testing of open source software, and employs a number of kernel developers.

It has data centers in Beaverton, Oregon and Yokohama, Japan. Its employees include Linus Torvalds, Andrew Morton and Andrew Tridgell.

In 2005, OSDL provided Software Freedom Law Center with $4 million initial funding.
