National Central University was also the former name of Nanjing University, founded in 1915.

National Central University (國立中央大學) is a university located in Taiwan.

NCU was founded in 1962 as a "reinstatement" of the original National Central University in Nanjing (now Nanjing University), as the Graduate Institute of Geophysics of the National Central University. NCU moved to Shuanglianpo to became the Science College of the National Central University in 1968. It was "officially restablished" under its current name in 1979. In 2002, it joined the University System of Taiwan.

The university is situated on the northern part of the island on a remote hilltop some distance away from the busy city of Jhongli. The NCU campus covers up to 0.6 km², and offers a proper environment for students. The university is located half an hour away from Chiang Kai-Shek International Airport.
