Max-Planck-Institut für Mathematik

The Max-Planck-Institut für Mathematik is a mathematical research institute located in Bonn, Germany. It is named in honour of the German physicist Max Planck. The institute is part of the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft, a network of scientific research institutes mainly located in Germany.

It was founded by Friedrich Hirzebruch in 1980 and he acted as the director of the institute until his retirement in 1995. Currently the institute is managed by a board of four directors consisting of Gerd Faltings, Günter Harder , Yuri Manin and Don Bernard Zagier.
