Handball is the name of two different sports:

• Team handball is a game somewhat similar to association football, but the ball is played with the hand rather than the foot
• American handball and Gaelic handball where a sometimes-gloved hand is used to play the ball against a wall.
• Chinese handball

The phrase hand ball can refer both to a type of handball, as well as the (illegal) use of hands while playing football. The phrase handballing has a meaning completely unrelated to these team sports. Also completely unrelated to these team sports is when the term handball is used in context in AFL Football, played in Australia.
