Fresnel drag coefficient

In 1818 Augustin Jean Fresnel proposed that substantial material bodies might carry some of the hypothetical aether along with them.

The 'Fresnel drag coefficient is

(1 - \frac{1}{n^2})

where n is the refractive index of the body.

See Aether drag hypothesis.
