Evaluand

In an evaluation, the thing being evaluated is called an evaluand. Depending on the type of evaluation, the evaluand can vary greatly. Basically, anything can be an evaluand depending on the purpose of the evaluation. Some examples of evaluands are listed below:

  • A new software program
  • A literacy program in a school
  • A research proposal
  • A new method for memorizing music
  • A 6th grade teacher

Determining the evaluand is one of the first steps for conducting an evaluation.
